MASTS

Aluminium: stiff, reliable, stable

Choose the Aluminium V8 mast if you want:

  • A stiff and rigid mast
  • Weight is not an issue
  • You prefer heavier foils that sink, which adds stability and helps the board face the right way up at all times.

OUR THREE MAST TYPES

Aluminium V8, Foam Core Carbon and Solid Core Carbon: designer Tiesda You runs through our three mast types.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT MAST SIZE

Pros:

Feels more direct and stable, flies lower which can be less scary, easier to control, easier to take off.

Cons:

Flying low makes foiling out (this when the wings come out of the water) easier. Wing tips also breach the water surface more easily.

Ideal for:

  • Progressing foilers
  • Downwind foilers who like to keep the wings flying close to the water surface

Pros:

A great all-round and versatile size. Masts in this size group still feel direct and stable while the higher flight compared to the 72-75cm size masts gives more flying room .

Cons:

Some riders prefer shorter masts and others will find it not long enough!

Ideal for:

  • All-round foilers
  • Freeride foilers
  • Freestyle foilers

Pros:

A longer mast gives you more leverage, increasing the foil's speed. The wings can fly deeper underwater, minimizing wing-tip breach when carving hard or heeling to windward.

Cons:

Added weight, more technical to ride and control, flying higher can be scary for beginners!

Ideal for:

  • Racers
  • Advanced foilers
